Tommy Bates - Pentecostal Pastor and Musician

Tommy Bates is a Pentecostal pastor at the Community Family Church in Independence Kentucky, about 15 miles south of Cincinnati, OH. He is also a singer and pianist, with multiple videos of preaching and singing available on YouTube, as well as DVDs and CDs from his website.

In Spring 2022, he felt led by the Holy Spirit to pay a visit to the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, LA, to thank Jimmy in person for what he had done in the 1970s and 1980s to establish legitimacy to the Pentecostal movement that had existed since at least 1906 in Appalachia, including the rural sections of Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee.

On the spot, the Swaggart people invited Tommy to sing a couple songs at their Sunday Service, and the result was overwhelmingly blessed, such that Tommy was invited back to be one of the speakers at their Spring 2023 Camp-meeting in Baton Rouge.

Tommy’s giftedness stretches well beyond his singing, piano playing and music arranging. His preaching style is energetic and Charismatic, and yet Biblically sound. Most of the meetings where he speaks, whether in his own church or elsewhere, are definitely Spirit-filled, albeit in a demonstrably active mode. In other words, he at times will leave the “pulpit” area, as he feels the Lord is leading him.
