Jordan Peterson – Introduction

Jordan Peterson is a Psychology Professor at University of Toronto, who was catapulted into prominence by his stated refusal in Fall 2016 to comply with compelled speech relative to desired pronouns for non-cis Transgendered people. Note that the Canadian Bill C-16 he opposed was enacted into law in July 2017.

In early 2018 he achieved further international prominence based in part on his contentious interview by Cathy Newman of UK’s Channel 4, and the release of his book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos.

This took place at a Senate hearing on bill C-16. Note that even though Peterson’s testimony placed the Bill in an extremely bad light, it was ultimately passed on June 15, 2017. Peterson then tweeted: “Senate passes Bill C16 without amendment 67 for 11 against. Compelled speech has come to Canada. We will seriously regret this.”.
