About

“The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men.” Acts 17:10-12

In Acts 17, The Apostle Paul commends the Berean believers for using the Hebrew scriptures as the conclusive guide to determining objective truth. Today, the Berean form of noble thinking is in short supply. It is clear that issues relating to movements within Christianity and broader cultural spheres have been significantly impacted by the increasingly secular influences of Cultural Marxism and other ideologies. The application of scripture to worldviews and ideologies has never been more crucial, and as illustrated in Acts, needs to cover areas beyond simply the domain of the Christian sub-culture.

Our Mission

The Berean Watch provides reflections on contemporary issues within the western Christian church, as well as the wider culture, while seeking to determine those ideologies and actions which align with Biblical truth, and those that do not. In the attempt to separate true from false, we desire to avoid cherry-picking and innuendo, guilt by association and the like, while not fearing to affirm what is aligned with scripture.

What We Believe

We subscribe to the Apostles’ and Nicene creeds from the past as they proclaim essential core doctrines such as the omnipotence and omniscience of God, the deity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, His substitutionary death on the cross and triumphant resurrection, the reality of heaven, hell and judgment, and the primary importance of belief in the finished work of Christ. We also understand that there are important although non-essential doctrines that Christians disagree on and we affirm the need for charity and grace in dealing with these differences.

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Heb 4:12
