Workshop Resources – Books

Given in the following are Amazon links to recent books which provide important background information concerning the origins and impact of leftist ideology on America.

Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World!

While this entire book is a great read, it’s starting in chapter 6 (“Breakthrough”) where Breitbart gets into the origins of political correctness, and traces it on through Saul Alinsky to ACORN and the community organizer. Sad for all conservatives that Andrew Breitbart died so young.

Mark Levin: Ameritopia – The Unmaking of America

In this book, Mark Levin describes a series of utopian systems, including Plato’s Republic, Thomas More’s Utopia, Thomas Hobbs Leviathan and Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. He compares and contrasts with John Locke’s Nature of Man, the influence of Locke on the US Founding Fathers, Charles de Montesquieu and Republican government, his influence in the Founding Fathers, and Alexis de Tocqueville and Democracy in America. He concludes by exposing the lure of the utopian concepts to draw the US away from what the framers envisioned and produced.

Diana West: American Betrayal – The Secret Assault on Americas Character

This very comprehensive book unveils the great degree of Communist infiltration into the US government before, during and after World War II. Much of this aspect of the history of that era has needed to be rewritten due to the great body of new information obtained by the opening of the KGB files (and some of the similar US files) during the Yeltsin regime in the early 1990’s. Diana West’s haunting question is, “Who really won WWII?” The resounding answer appears to be the Left.

Mark Levin – Plunder and Deceit: Big Government’s Exploitation of Young People and the Future

Mark Levin describes in great detail the multiple methods the Left uses to redistribute wealth from our children to a greedy federal government.

Shelby Steele – Shame: How America’s Past Sins Have Polarized Our Country

Shelby Steele discusses how progressivism used “poetic truth” to gain power and assumed (but false) moral superiority. Such “truth” is not based in fact but in ideology. The impact of failed progressive policy with respect to minority communities is lamented.

Jonah Goldberg – Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Change

This very extensive expose of the Fascist nature of modern progressivism traces the origins of this ideology from Rousseau and Robespierre through Mussolini, Roosevelt, Wilson, Hitler, Lenin and Stalin up to the present. Throughout the strains of Fascism, there is always an attempt to replace worship of God with worship of the state. A book full of detailed background information.

Dinesh D’Souza – Stealing America: What My Experience with Criminal Gangs Taught Me about Obama, Hillary, and the Democratic Party

What Dinesh D’Souza witnessed of criminal behavior and thinking during his 8 months of confinement as a political prisoner has given keen insight to the similar thinking and actions of the progressive Left, especially as embodied in Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
